Dr. Schoppelrey came to Radford from the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) and has taught courses
in substance abuse policy and practice, mental health
policy, social welfare policy, research and statistics, and
psychopathology. Dr. Schoppelrey received her MSW from Our
Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas and her
Ph.D. from the University of Texas. While in Austin, she
also worked as an Evaluation Analyst for the state agency
that oversees publicly-funded substance abuse treatment and
prevention. Dr. Schoppelrey's research interests include
organizational climate and culture, particularly as they
relate to client outcomes and to the implementation of new
and empirically based interventions within agency settings.
She is currently co-PI on a 3-year grant from the National
Institute of Mental Health to investigate the relationship
between organizational culture, ethnic diversity among
clients and staff, and client outcomes at rural community
mental health agencies in the Midwest. She is also active
in community service activities, and is currently working
on evaluations of a substance abuse prevention coalition
and a drug court treatment program in Illinois.
